Kadia Goba Biography

From 2015-2019, Kadia Goba (Journalist) studied at Hunter College in New York (NY), earning a BA in Journalism with a 3.5 GPA. Affiliated with the Online News Association (ONA), the Society of Professional Journalists (SPJ), and the National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ).
Kadia Goba started her career as a Staff Writer at The Envoy at Hunter College in New York from January 2016 to June 2016. She looked up news stories and wrote them for the school newspaper.
From January 2016 to December 2017, she was the Senior Editor at The WORD at Hunter College in New York. She was a correspondent for the United Nations during General Assembly meetings. She also covered news from the city and colleges, as well as the New York Film Festival and Tribeca Film Festival.
She was the Editor-At-Large at Kings County Politics in Brooklyn, NY, from April 2017 to April 2018. She wrote about and reported on the political scene in Brooklyn, including elections and community events. She also talked to local politicians, public officials, and political candidates, did interviews with them, and wrote about how gubernatorial and mayoral laws affect different communities. She writes about issues that are very close to home in Brooklyn, such as politics, lifestyle, and culture. She enhances her online reporting with videography and photography, and she gets the word out about her work by manipulating SEO and using social media.
From June to August 2018, she was an editorial intern at Newsday in Melville, New York. She worked as a general assignment reporter at the Long Island desk, where she covered breaking news and shot and edited video.
Since September 2018, Kadia has worked as a Staff Reporter at Bklyner –Brooklyn, NY, where she writes about politics, lifestyle, and culture in Central Brooklyn. She also uses videography and photography to improve online reporting and uses social media and SEO to get the word out about her work.
In 2018, she won the Crisis Reporting Fellowship from the Pulitzer Center, which paid for her to go to Sierra Leone, West Africa, to report on environmental strategies.
In the same year, she won a scholarship from the Society of Professional Journalists.
She works as a Congressional Reporter (Full-time) for BuzzFeed in the Washington, D.C., Metro Area. She has been doing this job since 2019 and writes about the U.S. Congress and national politics.
