Qatar eliminated from World Cup after Netherlands and Ecuador draw

Qatar grew to become the first crew to be eliminated from the World Cup on Friday after Group A opponents the Netherlands and Ecuador drew 1-1.

The Dutch and Ecuador each have four points, Senegal have three. Qatar are without a point after they lost their opening game 2-0 to Ecuador and then went down 3-1 to Senegal previously on Friday. They cannot qualify whatever happens in their closing healthy towards the Dutch on Tuesday.

Disappointed Qatar fans criticised their group after a second successive defeat left the hosts on the brink of removing from the World Cup on Friday.

Qatar misplaced the opening game of the match 2-0 to Ecuador on Sunday, and although their overall performance used to be higher on Friday they had been still on the wrong stop of a 3-1 scoreline towards Senegal that leaves them needing a miracle to make the closing 16.

“We predicted way greater from this team, they performed a fit that used to be under standards, not as if it was a World Cup game. We desired to at least experience it. It was simply shameful,” Qatar fan Emam Abdulrahman instructed Reuters outdoor the Al Thumama Stadium.

Wearing a maroon Qatar scarf over his traditional white thobe tunic, Abdulrahman Almeri echoed these sentiments.

“It’s a shame, after 12 years of guidance with all the local people and the Arab human beings waiting, and in the end, the overall performance was beneath average, and you don’t even experience that the players had a experience of responsibility,” he said.

“There was no pressure, no spirit. I don’t recognize what the trouble is exactly. I cannot even say tough luck, because we don’t know when we will participate in every other World Cup.”

Khalid Al Fayad went one step further, proudly sporting a Qatar shirt over his thobe, but he couldn’t hide his disappointment.

“It is very unlucky because it’s been 12 years in the making, of waiting, people have concept that this is the group that can make history. And I can understand the disappointment in a lot of people, and I be a part of them on that too,” he said.
