What Happened Today When Chinese National Who Killed Nigerian Girlfriend Appeared In Court

Geng Quanrong, the Chinese national who killed his ex-Nigerian lover, Ummulkulthum Buhari (Ummita), in Kano has been arraigned before the Chief Magistrate’s Court in the state.

Mr Quanrong was charged to court on Wednesday by the Kano State Police Command on a one-count charge of culpable homicide, contrary to section 221 of the Penal Code.

After the charge was read before Magistrate Hanif Yusuf of Court 30, Zungeru Road Sabongari Kano, Mr Quanrong’s plea was not taken as the court lacks jurisdiction to try the case.

The magistrate therefore ordered his remand in prison custody until October 13.

Mr Quanrong, 47-year-old, of Nassarawa GRA Quarters Kano, was said to have gone to the family house of late Ms Buhari, 22-year-old, on Friday night and attacked her with a sharp knife, leading to her death.
